SFGGC Director's Corner - April 2008
Welcome to the newest addition to the SFGGC website – The Director’s Corner!

A big hello to all of you bowlers out there who have bowled in our past tournaments! It is the 16th of April (1 day past the dreaded day of paying homage to the IRS) and I am writing this from Serra Bowl in Daly City while I bowl in the LGBT Wednesday Community League.

Part of our weekly fund-raising is running brackets and we have been getting $60 or $70 every week. That amount adds up week after week and the bowlers have a good time with $5 giving them a chance at $10 or $20. Anyway, I knocked myself out of all my brackets in the 1st game! So……..what’s up with the SFGGC tournament, you might ask?

The entry form is on our website (www.SFGGC.org) and you can print out the form, fill out your team information, and then send it in to us with the entry fee and you will be officially entered in the 24th annual SFGGC! It really is that easy! We will also be doing a mailing of the entry form to at least member of each team from last year’s event. You can also request an entry form by dropping us a note either on the website or you can send it directly to me (sfmarc@mac.com). Just make sure to include your full address and I will put the entry into the mail the following day!

We are limiting the number of teams this year to 58 so that we can bowl just one squad instead of two. Doing so will make the tournament committee available for any questions or problems that might arise while you are bowling! Hopefully there won’t be any problems this year, but if there are, we will be ready and waiting. The staff at Classic Bowl will be ready to take care of any lane problems, scoring issues, drink orders, you name it! All of us want this year’s tournament to be one of the best in 2008!

So, I’ll keep this column short for April (as once again, it is almost May) and end it by saying that we hope to have a full tournament with 58 teams (232 bowlers) and that everyone bowling has a great time! Plan your vacation this year in San Francisco! Start it out with the 24th annual Golden Gate Classic and finish it off with Pride Week and one of the best Pride Parades in the country! You won’t be disappointed!

Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions at the email address listed in the column.
