Gung Hay Fat Choy! Today, February 7th, is Chinese New Year and the beginning of the year of the rat! Tuesday was Mardi Gras! Last week was Groundhog Day! In another week it will be President’s Day! For a short month, there sure are a lot of things to celebrate! As a Co-Director for the San Francisco Golden Gate Classic tournament, I also have reasons to celebrate!
As you all know, we have changed the date and the location of the tournament for 2008! The weekend of June 20-22, 2008 will hopefully see 58 teams celebrating a lot of high scores, the making of new friends, and a great time in San Francisco!
Classic Bowl in Daly City is where we’ll be holding our tournament this year. With 62 lanes, there will be one squad for the Singles/Doubles event and one squad for the Team event. This will allow everyone to bowl together (think about how much the side pots could be worth!) and will give all of you more free time to enjoy the sights of San Francisco.
Our host hotel, the Handlery Union Square, is right in the middle of downtown San Francisco and is a convenient starting point for whatever activity you might wish to pursue – shopping, dining, catching a movie, meeting fellow bowlers for a drink in the Castro—it’s all waiting for you this coming June!
Don’t delay in getting your entry forms filled out – you don’t want to miss out on this year’s tournament! We are working hard to make things enjoyable for bowlers of all levels! There will be an extra Scratch Masters division at the lower end, special brackets for bowler’s with lower averages, a Scotch Doubles warm-up mini-tournament, and lots of other surprises!
So, before February flies by, don’t forget to get your entry filled out for the 2008 San Francisco Golden Gate Classic Invitational Tournament! I’ll report back on how things are going next month!
