Happy New Year to everyone! It’s hard to believe that it is already 2008 and the SFGGC is only a little more than 5 months away! Things are rapidly falling into place and we are really excited about that. We will be mailing out entry forms later in the month to all of you who have participated in the past tournaments.
We have made some changes to the tournament that we think will make it run smoother and better this year. We moved the location to Classic Bowl in Daly City which has 60 lanes (wood lanes) and we will be having only one squad this year. The team event will be on Friday night with Singles and Doubles on Saturday. We will have a Scotch Doubles 2-game mini-tournament on Friday afternoon. This will give all of you a chance to check out the wood lanes while having fun and maybe even winning some cash!! This will allow everyone to bowl at the same time (and that means bigger sidepots!) which will provide the same playing conditions for everyone. It will make it easier for the Directors to keep an eye on everything. It does mean that the 2008 tournament will be limited to 58 teams, so get those entries back to us as quick as possible. It will also be posted on this website as well.
We have added a sixth division to the optional Scratch Masters event! This is to get all of you bowlers with lower averages involved in the Scratch Masters. It is a great way to compete head-to-head with those bowlers in the same average range as yourself and all the money after lineage becomes the prize fund. The divisions will be as follows:
- A: 210 and above
- B: 195 – 209
- C: 180 – 194
- D. 165 – 179
- E. 150 – 164
- F. 149 and below
I hope to see a lot of first-time Scratch Master participants this year.
Well, that is about all the new updates for now. Please keep checking the website for updates on reserving rooms at the host hotel, location for the awards ceremony, and many other important items regarding the 2008 tournament.
Here’s to a healthy and happy 2008!
