SFGGC Director's Corner - July 2007
Welcome to the newest addition to the SFGGC website – The Director’s Corner!

Well, it seems that no matter how old we get that the summer months just go by way too fast! I remember summer vacation from school seemed to last for 1 week. I always thought as I got older that time would slow down a little bit! Obviously, that isn’t the case! So, before August is here, let’s see what is going on in “The Director’s Corner” for what is left of July.

Believe it or not, we’ve changed the date of the 2008 tournament one more time in response to the requests from many bowlers who have other annual events over the 4th of July weekend. So (drum roll please), the new dates are Friday, June 20th through Sunday June 22nd! San Francisco Gay Pride Week kicks off on June 22nd and culminates on Sunday, June 29th with the biggest Gay Pride Parade around. What a perfect time to take a week’s vacation and enjoy a wonderful time in San Francisco!

The tournament committee is planning the first of what we hope will be many fundraising events to take place over the next 10 months leading up to tournament weekend! In our local leagues, we will be holding a “Best 3 out of 6” tournament during August! For so many of us, it seems that it needs to be a “Best 3 out of 9, or 12, or 15” in order to get 3 games that are above average! So, all you SF league bowlers, look for the flyers announcing the dates of this always popular tournament!

If there are any bowlers outside of San Francisco that think their league members would be interested in participating in a monthly or weekly “Virtual Tournament”, please let me know! This type of event is a great way to see how our fellow bowlers across the country are doing and also a nice way to earn some decent prize money without a big investment! Look for more details in the August and September “Director’s Corner” and let’s get some friendly competition going among as many gay leagues as possible! Send an e-mail to Marc Gottschall, your “Director’s Corner” writer, at marcsf@comcast.net if you or others in your league would like to participate. Include the name and e-mail of your league secretary as well.

Well, since August is almost here, I am signing off for the July (or late-July) edition of the “Director’s Corner” and I look forward to hearing from all of you!
